3 Carat Moissanite Engagement Rings
3 carat moissanite rings are beautiful and exquisite. Moissanite is one of the most sought-after diamond alternatives due to its durability, brilliance, and affordability. Second only to natural diamonds in hardness, moissanite has gained in popularity in recent years due to its “sparkle” effect and the fact that it is conflict-free. Moissanite is manufactured by expert craftsmen who ensure the quality of each stone.
The standard for the production of moissanite stones has been set by Charles & Colvard®, who are the primary producers and distributors of moissanite world-wide. Each stone they manufacture is guaranteed for life not to loose brilliance and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
The Three Grades of Moissanite Stones
The three types of Charles & Colvard Moissanite® are Forever Classic™, Forever Brilliant® and Forever One™. The only difference between the three is the amount of color in the stone. Forever Classic™ has a hint of color and fits in the J-K range of the gem color scale. Forever Brilliant® is near colorless in the G-H-I range, and Forever One™ is colorless with a grade of D-E-F in the color scale. The less color a stone has, the more expensive it will be. However, moissanite costs considerably less than natural or synthetic diamonds, even in the colorless range.
How Moissanite is Measured for Size
The size of a moissanite stone is measured by length rather than carats. Carats are used measure the weight of natural diamonds. Since moissanite is approximately 10% lighter than a natural diamond, moissanite is measured by millimeters rather than carats. It is not difficult, however, to compare the two. A 6.5mm moissanite round cut stone, for example, would be equivalent to a 1 carat diamond of the same size, but will weigh less. To the eye of the beholder, they would look the same. In this post, the rings we list are described in carats since most people are familiar with this term.

Some Things to Keep in Mind
Although some of the rings featured in this article may seem to be expensive, compared to similar diamond rings, they are very reasonable. For example, this ring is listed at around $16,700.00, and it is similar to the first ring we listed priced at $799.99.
Why is the price difference so drastic? One reason is that moissanite is created by expert jewelers, while diamonds have to be mined. The costs of mining alone are enough to justify the cost of diamonds.
